Parkmerced High-rise apartments over at Sunset district is one of the best places to live.  Although the condos are not super nice, you get a really great view of the ocean if you can rent a high floor.

Unlike downtown, Parkmerced is great for quite suburban-like living in San Francisco although SF State is right next to it, causing a lot of college students to live here.

Other than too much construction, Parkmerced is not a bad place to live, just make sure you get the highest floor with an ocean view before you sign any leases.
